Outdoor activities not really
your thing? Would you rather be browsing around in a quaint country
shop or avant-guard boutique? Jim Thorpe and the surrounding area is
perfect for just that. We like to think of our little village as a cross
between the 90's strange TV show Twin Peaks and the 60's classic based
in the fictional town of Mayberry. (You know the one)

You can pretty much tell from that description what kind of stuff
you can find here. Our shops range from quaint country shops to
truly bizarre boutiques- a mirror image of our townsfolk. If you
would like to venture out to the bigger stores we recommend Country
Junction, the world's largest general -store about a 15 minute drive.
Or bigger still- the Crossings Premium Outlets-a huge outlet complex
with designer sportswear, gifts, jewelry and much more. It is about
a 40 minute drive from Jim Thorpe.
Here's a sampler of whats in town (in alphabetical order):
Big Creek Vineyards
27 Race Street
The Strohlein family vineyard is located in Kresgeville, Pa on the southern
face of the Pocono escarpment in the valley of Big Creek. The soils
are a chimera of decomposing glacial drift and local slate and shale.
Like the natural history of the area, their wines are unique and full
of character. Be sure to stop and say hello to Domenic and taste some
of his family's wonderful local wines.
Blue Mountain Sports and Wear
A great shop that does bike and kayak rentals in spring, summer and
fall and cross country, downhill skis and snowshoes in winter. The place
to go for bike gear. Authorized specialized dealer. Trail maps, shuttle
service.
Chatelaine
81 Broadway
Handcrafted jewelry at its finest - including ear cuffs & wraps,
hair wraps, anklets, toe & finger rings, lariat necklaces, cuff
& link bracelets & body jewelry. Designers include Holly Yashi,
Ed Levin, Michael Golan & Kenny Ma. Gift Items are candles, special
theme books, specialty food items, Harmony Kingdom & Just the Right
Shoe collectibles. Elaine has been here in Jim Thorpe for years. All
quality merchandise from a classy lady!
Country Cottage
37 Race Street
The "pickle lady" as we refer to her, has some neat antiques
and knick knacks, but her specialty is - you guessed it-homemade pickles!
Also homemade jams that she concocts in her laboratory in the back.

Dugan's
60 Broadway
Dugan's is a "Mom & Pop" newsstand and a convenience
store. They carry most daily needs like milk, bread, patent medicines,
and nonperishable foods. They have film, disposable cameras, camera
batteries, and premium film developing. In addition, hallmark greeting
cards, gift-wrap, ribbons, and a few surprises. This store has been
in the Dugan family for years. Jim and Jack always have the latest
town gossip.
Everything Nice
41 Susquehanna Street
Everything Nice, located in the Hooven Mercantile for nineteen years,
reminds customers of an old-time general store. They carry everything
from Dept. 56 Snow babies, a full line of Yankee Candles to .10¢
marbles. But everyone’s favorite is the 1960s six
piece Monkey Machine Band playing music for only .25. It must be a nice
shop with a name like that!
The Gem Shop
37 Broadway
Located directly across from The Inn-another mainstay in town. While
other shops come and go, a few, like this one, seem to thrive. There
must be a reason.
Lehigh Gorge Outpost
2 Hazard Square
Bike rentals and gear, t shirts, paintball guns, CO2 refills, sunglasses,
etc, etc. Just about everything you need for your next adventure!
Marianne Monteleone Design
97 Broadway
A one of a kind clothing and accessory gallery featuring the creations
of designer-owner Marianne Monteleone and other local artists. Marianne
creates fascinating unusual classic jacket and coat designs using silks,
hand wovens and a myriad of interesting fabrics. Now she also coordinates
dresses, pants and tops to match linings and jacket fabrics. Marianne
is truly gifted in her craft. Definitely worth a visit.
Mauch Chunk 5 & 10
9 Broadway
An old fashioned 5 & 10 with original hardwood flooring and tin
ceilings -Tom fills a need here in JT for cheap stuff sold cheap. A
real popular store for locals as well as tourists.
Mauch Chunk General Emporium
Step into Barret Ravenhurst’s domain and you’ll
find yourself in a shop filled with Gargoyles, strange lights and an
array of books on the occult and the supernatural.
